Just wanted to pass along my observations after using this amp for live work. When you rough up the clean channel with a quality box such as a soldano g.t.o.like I use, this amp is all you really could want for most any style.Very loud and clear with a decent sounding reverb.

I use Fender guitars, mainly a tele, and a Jaguar. I love playing clean, and this amp at any volume. Low volume playing is extreamly sweet. I play R&B, and Blues

I bought this amp new in 1976 or 7, from a dealer in Freeport Long Island named Pop Gracin. I love the amp, been using it happily for 25 years without any major problems. Never had to turn it up ti 12. I've used it with an additional cabinet, but mostly as is. I had to replace the speakers, and put mojo 30's in. I use matched sovtec 5881's. I installed legs,'cause I like to lean it back.

I carry an extra tube in case I blow one, but I find my Peavey very reliable. I do take good care, and maintain the amp at regular intervals.

Bogner Alchemist 112 Guitar Combo Amplifier (40 Watts, 1×12 in.)

Bogner Alchemist 112 Guitar Combo Amplifier (40 Watts, 1x12 in.)

The Bogner Alchemist 112 Guitar Combo Amplifier is inspired by classic Californian-flavored amplifier designs with a modern twist. The Alchemist provides sparkling cleans, touch-sensitive leads and a bright and colorful crunch that are coaxed from its power section and poured from a premium Celestion speaker.

Bogner Alchemist 112 Guitar Combo Amplifier (40 Watts, 1×12 in.) Features…

1×12 open-back combo

6L6 class-AB power section and five-12AX7 preamp; selectable power section

Channel 1 (gold): Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, Volume, Crunch mode, variable Bright, Deep switch

Channel 2 (mercury): Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, Volume, variable Bright, Mid Shift

Shared: in parallel, Reverb Type, Reverb Level, Delay Type, Delay Level, Delay Repeats (Feedback), Tap Tempo

Premium Celestion speaker

Four-button footswitch included. Functions: Channel Select, Boost, Delay, Reverb

Beginning clean and fast, featuring an open top-end and tight bottom-end, Channel 1 opens gradually to present simmering blues tones. Advancing toward saturation, Crunch mode turns up the heat adding pick response and increased tonal complexity. Channel 2, achieving critical mass, invokes the famous white-hot Bogner gain: creamy, modern and screaming with sustain. Conjure the legendary Brown sound by switching the selectable power section from 40 watts to 20.

The Alchemist also features reverb and delay that will breathe life into your sound. On their own journey, the effects remain separate from the original signal, occupying their own circuit. The result is a rich, living and breathing, fully realized resonance composed entirely of nature, philosophy and maybe a little magic.

I play a range of styles from alternative to jazz to blues and back. This amp suits pretty much any style I could think of except Metal; it has more than enough gain but doesn't really go into that super saturated zone. I play a '64 ES345, a Tom Anderson Classic T, and a Scippio "Coodercaster"(for slide) through this amp. I use a pedal board with a Fulltone Fulldrive2, Line six Delay modeler, Hughes & Kettner Tube rotosphere, Fulltone SupaTrem and Coloursound ToneBender.

This amp is extremely versatile and is a VERY loud 30 watts. I got the single 12" version because I wanted a great sounding rig that I could get in the back of my car and have room for the groceries. The 2 inputs have different eq curves X (the top) seems tighter and more focused, while Y (the bottom) has a looser low end feel. The Schizo switch has 5 positions; It goes from 1 which is rather bright to 5 which has a very thick lo-mid emphasis. The Bass and Treble controls are very interactive also. The presence control seems pretty subtle to me, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of range there. You have a lat of cabability for tone shaping here, but really this amp sounds great pretty much anywhere you set the controls-it's not tweaky. The Reverb is the only aspect of this amp that I think could be improved; it's a little metallic and ringy sounding for my taste, I talked to Reinhold about it, they're working on an update. The Master Volume works really well on this amp, which is great because even though it's only 30 watts, this guy gets loud! Tonally, it reminds me a little of a Matchless DC 30, but it definitely has its own thing going, it doesn't mush out as much as the Matchless when you crank it. Butter!

This amp was built in 2000. It's the 30 watt version with 4 EL84's and a single Celestion vintage 30 speaker. This is a single channel amp without an effects loop, but with reverb. The controls are Gain, Schizo, Bass, Treble, Reverb, Master, and Presence. The version without reverb has a Mid control; the way the amp is voiced I don't miss it. There are 2 inputs marked X and Y (!), respectively. This amp is very straightforward yet is capable of a very wide range of sounds- all of them excellent.

I've had this amp for a couple of months, and have gigged with it a lot. No problems yet. Bogner builds these things like tanks, the only thing I worry about in this category is my back.

I've been playing over 30 years, and I've owned every kind of amp imaginable. This amp is the perfect combination of flexibility, tone and gain. I would like to emphasize that the tone coming out of this amp is really incredible; it's my fave. If it got stolen, I'd replace it in a minute.

Great Amp!

I just bought this amp yesterday, because my Marshall AVT 275 went out on me while recording. I was immediately blown away by the clarity of this amp, not only in the clean section, but also in the distortion section. The clean is so bright and clear, and there are so many ways to shape your tone. The distortion is so powerful and has tremendous gain, yet retains the clarity, and it also has many ways to shape your tone. A great amp!
