Quite versatile. Somewhat LP-like, but the 25 1/2" scale lends a bit more bite. The pickups are actually quite good sounding, but I HATE the fact that they match the finish. Makes an otherwise classy guitar look like a toy. Push-pull pot achieves fairly convincing single-coil tones.

Gotta lose the stock pickups, but only because of the looks.

Mahogany neck-through mahogany body with quilted top. I'm not sure of the top wood type. It is quilted, but I've seen it described as quilted mahogany. I never knew there was such a thing. Might be maple. Ebony board, Schecter superdupermegacoolhotrock pickups…or something. String through body with Tone Pros TOM bridge. Grover tuners, white binding.

Action was a bit high for my liking, but that's always subjective. There are a few inconsistencies with the body binding, somewhat less than perfect. Jumbo frets are finished nicely, no low/high spots, no sharp edges. The Tone Pros bridge is amazing!

Great guitar!

I was actually looking to buy a ESP EC500. The store didn't have it so I was about to get a Epiphone Custom LP when I saw this on the shelf. I played it and was blown away by how it sounded. The pickups scream and harmonics come out amazing. The clean sounds come out clear and warm. The split coil option is great. Looks awesome too!

Guitar legend Les Paul and Gibson teamed up in 1952 to produce the guitar that set the standard for solidbody electrics. In the 1990’s Gibson and Les Paul still enjoy the most successful endorsement agreement in the history of the guitar, and the Les Paul Standard is still the Industry Standard.

About the Les Paul Series

No matter where Gibson Les Paul is seen – in the hands of a star performer, silhouetted in a guitar dealer’s ad, or cast in brass and incorporated into the architecture of a restaurant – it is universally recognized as the symbol of rock and roll music. From the basic no-frills guitars to elegant showpieces, the guitars of Les Paul are the standard-bearers of Gibson’s excellence.

"Awesome rock"

very appealing. most common of all guitars. most musicians have or will have a les paul in the future. there just amazing.

the value on this guitar is very nice. well worth getting one if you have the money. seems that it will definetly last a long time.

the quality is perfect. everything on this guitar is made so good. the finish is evenly lined up and is absolutely perfect.

i will never sell this guitar unless there is a better offer on the table. this product does meet my goals. nice to use with slide and a very nice clean tone without the raunchy distortion.

"Sweet Suzana's Story (the breakdown of my LP)."

What would you expect from a Gibson? PERFECT sound, incredibely versatile sound, it's what God Himself would use.

Very very very very pricey, but if you have the extra cash, it's worth every penny you're paying for. I mean it IS a GIBSON.

Incredibely well made, the sustain is outstanding, the guitar is the sexiest one I own, fool-proof and time-tested design, easy to play, hell EVERYbody should have this guitar.

Within the time I bought it, to the time I'm writing this review, this guitar has become my main guitar, shifting from my Strat. I think that should put it into perspective.

I play a differing array of music, ranging from blues to heavy metal. This guitar fits the metal bill perfectly, and anyone looking for a guitar with DECENT active pups is going to be satisfied. I compared this to my friend's KH-2 and also a USA made dean this blew them both away in every department…and is about 900 GBP cheaper!

I'm using it with my practice amp at the moment, which is a line 6 spider III. It impressed me compeltely with that setup, so I can't wait to test it on my live rig.

This guitar doesn't let any sound escape it's icy fingers! There is absolutely no hum whatsoever.

Okay, on to the actual sound of it. If you are looking for a warm bluesey tone, or that classic clapton sound…a.) I'm afraid it's not gonna deliver, and b.) you should'nt be thinking of buying one of these anyway……away with you! Seriously though, this guitar can certainly pull out all the stops when it comes to tight, precise rythm and brain tearing lead parts…this beast can pretty much handle anything you throw at it; and will ask for more.

As is said above, anyone looking for a diverse guitar, with tons of tone and rich full sounds, you should probably be looking at a similar priced les paul (there isn't many at this price!) with an array of pups. This guitar screams metal…and as long as you quench its' thirst for the heavy, it will please you forever.

I can't say there is anything I dislike about this guitar….other than the fact that you have to change the battery for the actives once in a blue moon.

Year/Location: Serial Number suggests 07 manufacturing. Korean in origin. 24 XJ frets; Solid top body, with ''Gears of War'' graphic. Two volume, one tone knob. 3 way selector. Pickup config is H/H. Pickups are an active set of Duncan 'Dave Mustaine' Livewires, and are extremely hot! Body and neck are mahogany (set neck), with an ebony fretboard. This is a king style 'v' guitar. It's loaded with a tone pros bridge and a string thru body, with Grover 6 in-line tuners. Jim Dunlop recessed straploks are also standard on the VMNT series. The neck is spec'd to a ''dave mustaine'' profile…this is exactly how he recieves the guitars that dean send him. Came with a free Hard case, which is damn heavy!

You are getting a helluva lot of guitar for the money here, the hardware alone is worth about 200usd.

The action right outta the case was simply put, astonishing; I really couldn't fault the height of the strings, bridge or the pups.

There were no cavity faults, the finish was flawless, and it looks stunning generally. The guys at dean are on to a real winner here…and I'm honoured to be the first to review this hardcore piece of kit.

There's no wobble or give in any of the hardware, and it feels solid enough to withstand a good few years of Capitol punishment….excuse the pun ;)

The frets were nicely polished, the ebony fretboard also has a lovely sheen to it. The mother of pearl inlays, coupled with the fretboard simply gleams radiance and beauty. I rarely have nothing negative to say on this front, but I admit that I've been beaten this time!

Havn't had to speak to dean, although their website has a lot of information regarding the guitars as well as the forums.

Came with a 1 year warranty from the music shop I bought it from.

Can't really comment on the customer support, as I've never used it!

Metal Monster

I was fortunate enough to get one of these Dean Angel of Deth's in about a week. When it arrived my guitar tech was the first to look at it and was very surprised at the quality of the work. Especially the fret work. This guitar really screams metal. One thing I noticed right away was the shape of the neck. It's not a super thin neck like an Ibanez wizard stlye. The shape is a "D" but with some heft to it. Don't be scared it is very comfortable to play. The pic ups where a nice surpise as well. Yes they're active but, you can get some great warm vintage rock tones out of them. They may not be as balls out as some high output pick-ups out there but their articulation is great. Like most Deans this thing is big. Big head stock, big body and big case. I have to crank my guitar stand to it's max length so that it doesn't touch the ground when I rest it on it. Last note about it is the frets. They are a little different than what I'm used to. Not as wide as a jumbo but they stand a lot taller than any I've ever used. Makes for easy trils and taping. buy and enjoy
