this book has been a great reinforcement tool for me. i wish i had it when i was studying music theory in high school. they would have thought i was a GENIUS. the diagrams and the language are staightforward and easy to follow. it's very helpful in terms of learning the relationships b/w notes, scales and chords. good book

Good DVD

This DVD is good for beginners. It gets you playing quickly. There is no music reading required, it has TABS only. Overall for a beginner this will get them playing fast but it lacks theory, so if that is something you want to learn don't buy this. I really liked this DVD and bought the intermediate and advanced DVDs also. I highly recommend this to any beginner

Great product for beginners!

I bought a Fender Strat and this video 8 weeks ago with no previous guitar experience. This video is a fantastic training tool. The exercises are well thought out and they really do improve you're playing on a daily basis. John is an excellent instructor and keeps things interesting. I work full-time so I try to get in an hour of practice a day. Buy this video and you'll be suprised with your progression in just a few weeks. I went back yesterday to buy the Intermediate and Advanced programs. Good luck and have fun.
