This speaker absolutely kills. Put two into a mesa standard 4×12 cabinet with two texas heats in an "X" pattern. This is the difintive New metal tone IMHO. Everything you need tight chunky bass, clear crisp highs, and all the raunchy mids you need without any icepick highs or farty low end. This speaker loves to be mixed with other types but im sure it would sound great alone as well. I play with mahogany guitars and emg humbuckers. (if youve got the emg's do the 18 volt mod immediatley! google it!)

0

you already know the features , read the other guys posts if not. I play metal primarily of all styles new and old.

Im sure it will last as all eminence products, if you blow it up its probably your fault anyway.

Beeen playing twelve years, own all sorts of gear, GAS sufferer for many years. Would buy this again and again, if fact I will probably never use anything else. finally found MY tone. And far far less cash than the china-lestion not so vintage icepick 30. If your a metal guy looking for new speakers try these. kick the vintage 30 to the curb once and for all. If you can, mix it with a texas heat and shatter skulls.

I dropped this into a ROLAND BC-60 blues cube as a replacement speaker. Very nice. Articulate and rich sounding with plenty of tight bottom. Better clarity than the ROLAND V12 ?Vintage? speaker it replaced. This is a very smooth sounding, well balanced speaker that doesn?t show any strong tendencies toward Low, Mid or High frequencies. That said, it actually projects well in all registers. I 'm using a BOSS compressor so it?s guitar-compressor-BC-60. The BC-60 is an amp that will go from squeaky Fender clean to monster Marshall crunch, so the Wizard gets a wide-spectrum workout in it. At 60 watts RMS, the BC-60 is capable of pushing the Wizard close to its continuous duty rating. I haven?t experienced any problems..in fact the speaker seems even better at higher volume levels, with just a little cone breakup. No farting out on the low end-it?s nice and tight. No midrange spike-it is well behaved and smooth. No High end shrillness-very pleasing highs. The Wizard reacts powerfully to the BC-60s channel EQs and presence knob. Makes the EQ really effective.

These are very good, very LOUD, very articulate speakers for blues, classic or hard rock. They don?t add much color so if you like the sound of your guitar?s marriage to your amp then this is the speaker for you. I LOVE it with the BC-60.

It?s round. Looks like a speaker. Hey..it IS a speaker.

Looks massively built. 75 Watts continuous / 150 peak.

I came across this speaker while testing some candidates for the BC-60. I tested the amp with a compressor and the guitars were Les Paul and Ibanez Strat. Both guitars held their signature character sound perfectly. I also plan to do a review of a Swamp Thang in the BC-60, so look over at the Eminence Swamp Thang if you?re interested. Overall, I rate the Wizard as superior to the ROLAND V12, which is a fine sounding speaker in its own right. For an amp of this type, the Wizard is a good choice in my humble opinion. Probably not the best choice for metal, although they might make for a good mix with another speaker type. I'm giving the WIZARD an 8 overall because I don't feel this is the speaker of choice for more modern, very heavy styles. But if you like classic rock and blues tones and the classic Brit amp sound through Greenback speakers then you should check this one out.

Celestion Vintage 30 Classic Series Guitar Speaker (60 Watts, 12 in.)

Celestion Vintage 30 Classic Series Guitar Speaker (60 Watts, 12 in.)

Think of your all time favorite guitar solo – chances are it was played through Celestion loudspeakers. When a toughened G12 radio loudspeaker was combined with an early guitar amplifier back in the 50’s, who could have imagined the sound would be so influential. But the soft, creamy overtones produced by an overloaded valve amp through a Celestion speaker had defined a whole new sound; one that powered the emerging guitar heroes of the period and, during the next 4 decades, became the undisputed Voice of Rock ‘n Roll.

Be it Manchester Brit-pop, L.A. shred-metal, or Seattle grunge, it’s more than likely coming at you through a Celestion. Most of the classic names in guitar amplification continue to rely on the unique tonal characteristics of Celestion loudspeakers to produce their trademark sounds.

Vintage 30 Features

Modern guitar loudspeaker designed to handle high output with vintage tone and style.

Tight and responsive single note definition, with masses of volume and sustain.

100dB sensitivity makes the Vintage 30 ideal for use with high gain valve amplifiers.

The first choice for many modern rock guitarists.

About the Classic Series

Beginning with the legendary Celestion Blue, the world’s first dedicated guitar loudspeaker, these Classic speakers have delivered many of the memorable guitar performances in contemporary music over the past four decades. Hand-built, using traditional methods to retain their unique tonal characteristics, the Classics are considered by leading guitarists and amp manufacturers as the finest guitar loudspeakers that money can buy.

To experienced ears, each of the Celestion Classics is instantly recognizable: the Blue for its exceptional dynamic range, the Classic Lead for its presence, the Greenback for its warmth, the Vintage 30 for its definition, the G12H for its tight bottom end, and the G12T-75 for its pure, unadulterated grit. No wonder Celestion Classic loudspeakers are the guitar world’s Number One choice.

Six guitar loudspeakers that have come to define the voice of rock and roll.

From authentic vintage reissues to cutting edge new designs, each model has been created to perform in every conceivable situation.

Highest quality materials and components ensure supreme reliability and unparalleled tone.

"The speaker that truly delivers…..and much more."

It's fantastic.

The value is surprisingly great considering the low price.

This speaker in conjunction with my Hot Rod Deluxe is a very reliable, powerful combination suitable for any gig. I've used it outside, in ballrooms, and on our last cd. No disappointments whatsoever!

Ten years or more. I thought I was happy with the Peavey Black Widows in my Twin until I bought my Hot Rod Deluxe with the Celestion Vintage 30. I only hope my Twin sounds as good with a pair of Vintage 30's in them.

Woah!

When the Celestion Heritage line came out, it pretty much didn't get my attention. I already own a few 'Blues, and they are great, articulate speakers that just sound good. I just didn't need a new speaker.
I became curious about the Celestion Heritage series after reading about the EVH model that is allegedly an accurate remake of the G12M 20 Watt speaker that Ed insists on for 'his tone'. Reading a little further, it seems that the EVH speaker is nothing more than a Heritage G12M with EVH decoration.
Then I found a Heritage G12H Model T1234/P in Scratch & Dent clearance. Why not?
Woah! What a life changing speaker! The dynamics are incredible! With my Goodsell Super 17 Mk2 amp my picking techniques come through with amazing clarity. Truly great!

I play mostly teles through a blackface Bassman and 2×12 Bassman cab for vintage rock and roll tones. I did a lot of research before buying these speakers and it paid off. Very present, but not too bright. The amp responded very well to changes in volume on the guitar. Well rounded and punchy. They already sound like vintage speakers.

12" 50W speaker – hemp cone

I would use these speakers without a backup. I've never had reason to doubt Eminence's reliability.

I've been touring for about 10 years and have used Les Pauls, Teles, Ricks, etc., so I know good rock tone (think Keef, Mike Campbell, Billy Gibbons, Paul Kossof). These speakers nail it. I would definitely buy these again if they were stolen. Love the tone, but I wish you could get tone like this out of an alnico magnet (just for the weight). I've been used original Oxfords for years and these sound just as good.

doodmanfaceguy (09/18/2005)

I play rock/blues harp. I got this to use with low watt amps that break up really easily. Recently played a small bar with a Masco amp that breaks up too easily and doesn't get loud enough with my 4×8 cab (with vintage Jensens). Put in a small cab 1×12. It was perfect. It's super efficient, so it got plenty loud. It was smooth and mellow, which paired with this amp (which is raucus) was just right. Really nice for harp. There's no ice-pick in this speaker.

You must BREAK IT IN. Sounded terrible out of the box. 20 hours with my stereo blasting through it and it was a different speaker.

It's a speaker. 50 Watts.

I imagine it'll last, but only some practice and one gig so far.

Just what I was looking for. Smooth, mellow high end, plenty of lows. This is what makes a good harp speaker. If you're looking for the speaker to break-up, this is not the one. But for a nicely distorting amp, just right. Or, if you're going for a warm, smooth tone, it would work with a clean amp.

This amp's clean is superb. The distortion is adequate. The reverb is pretty quiet. DO NOT play your guitar close to this amp for 2 reasons, on the drive channel there is alot of feedback andf on both channels there is a nasty hum produced by the magnetic field generated by the power transformer that messes with the pickups. This amp is pretty good for just about all musical styles though I would not recommend it for thrash metal or other such super high gain styles of music. I gave this amp an 8 in this category.

I'm not gonna go through all the knobs, controls, etc. but it does have 2 channels clean and overdrive. The clean channel really kicks ass, other people might say that it distorts at higher volumes but to me it just sounds like it gets a little punch added in. The distortion channel is awesome as long as your standing far enough away cuz this thing will feed back. It pumps out 65 watts through a 12" speaker and is very very loud for an amp in it's size. It has spring reverb that sounds like a big room-very cool. I play mostly rock, old rock…HENDRIX=GOD and blues. This thing is really good for alternative it is also good for Hendrix like stuff too. It has a good amount of features for it's price so I gave it a 9 in this category.

I bought it used and there has not been a single problem yet.

Overall I like this amp alot and would recommend it as a practice/small gig amp for beginners to intermediate players. If it were lost or stolen I would probably break every bone the theif's body and save my mony towards getting a separate head and 4×12" cab. I gave this amp a 9 in this category because it is an excellent value for it's price.

Jimi (06/13/2000)

used at the mo. with an Epiphone Les Paul standard. humbucker pickups. suits my musical style (radiohead/jeff buckley) reasonably well. for clean low vol sounds is amazing. makes too much of a hissy noise. never gets loud enough on channel one at gigs. clean channel distorts at mid – high volumes and when guitar is played aggressively. distortion is awful unless used for solos at ultra high gain

Fairly versatile. 2 channels. strange location (middle) for channel selector. no effects. spring reverb, nice but hisses at me which is annoying when recording. sounds great on clean channel up to about 2 on the volume dial. after that performance suffers greatly and no matter how much more you turn the knob it doesn't get any louder. solid state

very reliable, never broken (yet)

i own a sound city 120 amp that i bought off a mate, but its getting fixed. id definitely consider getting a fender amp again, tho a more powerful one certainly. it's worth getting for the clean channel but don't get your hopes up over the drive channel

All of these speakers use the same voice coil designs and similar ceramic magnet structures to achieve their familiar, hard-rocking Celestion sound.

Harking back to the original British rock invasion, the G10 Vintage provides a meaty 60W power handling with solid bass, muscular mids and an articulate top-end, making it perfect for anyone looking to upgrade the sound of an existing 2×10 in. or 4 x10 in. Found used on Ebay. Just recorded an album, looking for the best electric guitar tones. Tried Vox Blue, Vintage 30, Matchless, Greenback, old Jensens. Used condensers, ribbon, and dynamic mics, close and distance mics. Matchless, Bruno, Fender, Top Hat, THD, Carvin, Gibson amps.

Guess which speaker won?

A little Celeston Vintage 10 in a homemade pine cabinet! The guy who mastered our album, Brent Lambert of The Kitchen Mastering in Chapel Hill (Squirrel Nut Zippers, Gladhands, etc) commented on how good the electric guitars sounded. Sometimes simple is better.

Buy a used one and try it out for yourself!

This speaker likes SM57 mics, Class "A" amps, and single coil pickups!

Anonymous (07/11/2002)

This is a 10" that wants to be a 12". Remarkable little speaker! I was amazed at how it responds to tube amps as well as a solid state. I run a Fender American Deluxe and the blues just rings wonderfully. I also Put a 2×10 through a high gain Bogner and an Ernie Ball with humbuckers and WHOA! This thing can handle some power. From clean Clapton to SRV to Slayer…. it suits my needs for gigging in two completely different bands.

60 watts , 10" of blues and rock bliss!

No issues and after about 10 hours it warms up nicely. I've pumped 100 watts of tube through a 2×10 and no signs of wearing out yet after about 6 months of complete abuse.

GET 'EM! Again, I can't stress how I bugged the heck out of www.ddspeaker.com for a few weeks and they stuck with me on my purchase!
