The SD20 is available in in both a dreadnought and this acoustic electric cutaway models, and in either Gloss Natural or spectacular translucent finishes. The SD20CE acoustic electric features a deep-set cutaway body style and 2-band passive EQ with volume and tone controls.

Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Square Shoulder Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar (with Case)

Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Square Shoulder Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar (with Case)

The Songwriter Deluxe offers superior performance with Rosewood back and sides and an active transducer pickup.

In today’s world, many acoustic guitar manufacturers have chosen to build their instruments more quickly, cheaply, and in greater numbers.

Gibson acoustic guitars are made one-at-a-time, by hand. No shortcuts. No substitutions. They’re made in Bozeman, Montana, where the climatic conditions are ideal for guitar building. Most importantly, Gibson acoustic guitars are built by master craftspeople that have dedicated their lives to building the world’s finest acoustic instruments.

These elements combine to create the difference that is the Gibson acoustic guitar. The difference is “MasterBuilt.”

Environment

Even though they might get a little more snow up there, the environs of Bozeman, Montana are a guitar builder’s dream, come true.

Extreme heat and high humidity are natural enemies of wood. Bozeman has neither. The fine Spruces, Maples, Mahoganies, and Rosewoods are carefully cured and environmentally maintained during the building process.

There are other advantages to Montana in addition to its ideal climate. Gibson’s acoustic guitars rely heavily on its builder’s sense of creativity and concentration. Living in “Big Sky Country” appears to nurture both of these needs. It seems that looking out over a range of snow covered mountains every morning makes for inspired guitar building – which, in turn, makes for inspired guitars.

Artistry

Experienced builders and players understand that handmade quality, design, and construction determine an instrument’s ability to produce truly beautiful sound. Gibson’s methods of handmaking guitars have remained unchanged for nearly a century.

The top brace of each guitar is carefully scalloped and arched to focus the sound to the center of the soundhole. The resulting distinctive “Gibson Tone” shares the same vibrance and fidelity as the sound from a fine audio speaker.

Instead of a cheaper bolt-on neck, Gibson’s dovetail joint technique creates a cohesive bond between the vibrating neck and body – as if the guitar were carved from a single piece of wood. This time-honored technique effectively transfers the strings’ vibrations directly into the wood for superior tone and unsurpassed resonance.

Finally, unlike other manufacturers, Gibson still uses its famous “violin-like” lacquer finish. Over the years, the complex makeup of the lacquer merges with the wood, further sweetening the instrument’s tone and poviding an unmistakable “vintage” look and feel that players and collectors have come to cherish.

Each Gibson acoustic guitar is full of expression, character, and exquisite beauty. None is ordinary, and no 2 are alike. When compared to a marketplace full of “lookalikes,” the differences of a MasterBuilt Gibson acoustic are unmatched in quality and performance.

Warranty

In 1894, in a 1-man shop in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Orville Gibson created a new family of guitars and mandolins that would inspire generations of craftsmen to produce some of the finest instruments the world has ever heard or seen. The Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Co., Ltd., was formed on October 10, 1902, to build instruments that carry on not only Orville’s designs but also his conviction to quality.

Gibson celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1994 with the spirit of Orville still going strong. Gibson’s combination of traditional craftsmanship and innovative technology has made Gibson the only company that produces industry standard models in every style of fretted instrument, from electric and acoustic guitars to mandolins, banjos, and resonator guitars.

The Gibson Gold Warranty carries on the tradition of the limited lifetime warranty introduced by the company’s founders. It represents their commitment to producing the world’s finest musical instruments and providing complete customer satisfaction.

Over the past two years, I have tried a number of different guitars: classical, acoustic, electric, jazz…This is, without a doubt of all the guitars I have tried, the best in terms of quality, construction, appearance, sound, tone. It is outstanding unplugged! When you plug it, get ready for an experience. This guitar is the one –if you had fifty — that you would keep because all others would pale into saleability. The West African wood seems to have a soul that touches yours and resonates with tones you never imagined.

"Great piece."

For some reason this is a really comfortable quitar. I picked it up and haven't been able to put it down.

I very pretty slightly non-traditional design. A small more ornate guitar that is not in the stratosphere in price.

Bought it used. Would have paid more.

I play blues, jazz and classic rock. Using a Fender pro tube concert reverb and a goldtone 15 rv ( sometimes in tandem). Use a tube screamer and a boss delay ( in moderation). My playing style is pristine cleans and over driven leads.

It is a very versatile guitar. Nice modern jazz sounds. Classic blues tone. Great for classic rock. It seems to capture someof the hollow body sound when clean and act like a solid body when pushed.

The clean is still full and rich and not wimpy at all. Nice singing quality to it. For clean ryhthms I roll back the volume knobs. This thins it out nicely. There is a lot of versatility in playing with the knobs.

Overdriven this guitar sounds as good as a quality solid body. The maple construction and center board give a wonderful clarity to the notes. Nice aggresive tone. I'm talking rock and rock blues not shread which I don't play.

2003 model. Light Burst- very nice figured top and beautful finish. Classic 57s. Thin '60s neck. two volume & two tone controls. Black speed dials ( I think I will change this to gold top hats).

Standard features in a 335.

I had it over a year.

Set up was a bit high and quickly remedied. Nut cut on the high side and a little grap on the g string. Also an easy fix.

Top is absolutely beautiful. Gibson has been using better looking woods as of late. No flaws and finish applied well.

Rabies (01/16/2006)

I play all styles and have been playing for 35 years. This guitar is great for blues, rock, country. Not having a whammy limits its capacity as a heavy metal or hard rock piece but it will hold its own in those categories also. I has the best tone of any guitar I have ever owned and I have owned quite a few.

Everyone knows the features of this model so I wont go there. This is my second one, the first being a 1968 cherry. This one is a 1972 Tobacco. I let go of the first one and have never lived it down.

This guitar was bought used and the action and all other aspects are 100%

Gibson Custom Historic SG Standard Vintage Original Spec Electric Guitar (with Case)

Gibson Custom Historic SG Standard Vintage Original Spec Electric Guitar (with Case)

Featuring an ultra thin, two-horned body, the SG Series addressed two of what Ted McCarty saw as the major issues of the now-retired Les Paul body style: weight and limited access to the upper treble register. The new body shape of the SG Standard was dramatically lighter than the old Les Paul, and offered access to the entire fretboard. Now part of Gibson’s proprietary new Vintage Original Spec series — the next step in their journey toward perfection.

Gibson Custom VOS

Traded in a Fender 1960 Relic Strat ( G&L guy) for the 2 puckup version…even up!

As years pass I switched over to blues. Don't mind some free punk jazz.

IMO the guitar has a very rich and somewhat "distant" sound compared to the sound produced by my modest LP Faded armed with Probuckers Pro.

Nashville, 2001. Specifications as described in the previous review. Thanks for taking a trouble!

Mine is mahogany, all hardware is gold plated.

More exciting is that one of those twenty five Explorers'58 historical reissue (expected to be sold in Japan, as we know) happened to be purchased by me in Kiev, Ukraine in 2006. (+ the huge vintage-type case).

As far as I know two guitars of this breed were available for sale in Kiev, Ukraine, via a Russian guitar shop.

Just perfect.

I got replies by e-mail from Gibson Co and Gibson Europe containing the detailed info I requested the very next day.

I am sure the guitar will not need any repair in the future.

"Okay, but not the best value"

This isn't a bad strap, but seeing as it costs more than a much better product, I can't recommend it.

A really lousy value compared with Perri's leathers. Perri's are made with two peices of leather, so that while this strap may never break, I know that my Perri's strap will never, ever break. Perri's leather is also sofer.

The "soft" side that contacts your skin is kind of rough.
